- 122 -(3) Welcoming the delegation from other countries(ⅰ) Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund Teacher Program (JFMF)*This program, sponsored by the Japanese Government from 1997-2008,provided American primary and secondary school teachers andadministrators with fully-funded short-term study tours of Japan. Theprogram was designed to increase understanding between the people ofJapan and America. Elementary and secondary educators were invited toJapan and required to share their experiences with fellow Americans upontheir return. JFMF participants traveled to Japan with other outstandingeducators, learned about Japanese culture and education, and returned toimplement a self-designed plan to share their knowledge and experience withtheir students, colleagues and community. (Program Specifics---from theHome page of ‘The Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund).’*Every year since 1997, Miyazaki Prefecture welcomed the delegation of 20American educators and introduced them to one of its cities.*MU welcomed the delegation in 1998 for the first time, and since then almostevery year, students and teachers of the Faculty of Education and Cultureenjoyed the exchanges with American educators. The program at MU wasusually arranged as follows:① The delegation pays a courtesy visit to President of MU・A welcoming address by President・A thank-you address by the delegation representative・Q & A on MU and its education② At the Faculty of Education and Culture・A welcoming address by Dean・Introduction of the Faculty of Education and Culture and itseducation・Group Discussion onsuch topics as:‘Science education,’‘Student Guidance,’‘Computer Education,’etc.
