- 123 -*The following is the article about the last visit by American educators inOctober 2008 (Campus News No.60. October, 2008).-----------------------------------------American Educators with the Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund Visited~Opinion Exchange on Education Situation of both Countries~On October 20, sixteen American educators with the Japan FulbrightMemorial Fund visited Miyazaki University to have an educationalexchange between Japan and America. This program started in 1996,managed by Fulbright Japan and sponsored by the Japanese Government.The delegation visited MU after an interval of 4 years since June 2004.The delegation first paid a courtesy visit to Director Tetsuo Ikari. After thewelcoming address by Mr. Ikari and the thank-you address by therepresentative of the delegation, the lively exchange of opinions wascarried out on the curriculum for the teachers’ training and the agreementsof international exchange. Then they inspected Research Center forEducational Practice, where the teacher gave an explanation on the outlineof the center and the new teaching materials using computers. Aftermoving to the Faculty of Education and Culture, they had a lively exchangeof opinions on various problems of education with 30 participants,including teachers, students, and foreign students of MU.(ⅱ) Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths(JENESYS program)*In the second East Asia Summit (EAS) held in Philippine in 2007, theJapanese Government announced a plan of inviting 6,000 students andyouths every year for five years from AES participating nations, includingASEAN countries, China, Korea, India, Australia, and New Zealand.*The purpose of this program was to establish a firm base for the closeconnection among Asian countries through a large-scale exchange of youngpeople.*Reacting to this plan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan established theJENESYS Program in 2007.
