- 151 -(ⅱ) Lunchtime meetingThe first meeting was held on October 31, 1988 in the university cafeteria,as there were not many participants. Every participant brought his or her ownlunchbox, listened to the reports from the universiry official in charge of theforeign students, gave him the requests from the foreign students, andexchanged information among foreign students. From the second and meetingonwards, the large Japanese-style room on the second floor of the UniversityHall was used. In the meeting on January 30, 1989, the following topics werediscussed:*‘Municipal Housing’: now accepting application for the eight families inthe municipal housing under construction in Kibana-dai.*’A bulletin board for foreign students’: it will be installed near Seikyo.*putting the English newspapers (Japan Times, Daily Mainichi, etc.) andmagazines (Newsweek, etc.) in the University Library.*giving opportunities to exchange with Japanese students (in activities oftraditional Japanese culture, such as ikebana or sado, or in the events suchas bowling competition.).<Farewell Party for those leaving Miyazaki soon (March 14, 1991)>*The establishment of an MU foreign students association.*The plan of lunchtime meeting in February: Farewell party for those whowere going to leave Miyazaki in March.
