- 156 -③ Japanese speech contest (October 29, 1994)The first Japanese Speech Content of MU foreign students was held in theclassroom of Faculty of Education on Saturday, when there were no classes.Mr.Kawachi, Dean of Students Affairs, was invited as a main guest.Mr.Takano, Japanese language teacher, was the chairman of the judges.There was a large audience. Six foreign students of MU gave speeches withsuch titles as ‘Japan as I see it’ and ‘Some differences between Japanese andChinese.’ The first prize was awarded to Wayusuwanwit Termpong(Thailand), who gave a speech with the title, ‘The really affluent society,Japan.’ The merit award was given to Heru Dwi Wahjono (Indonesia) and toOng Chen Chiang (Malaysia). The prize for effort was given to all theparticipants.④ Autumn sports festival (November 5, 1994)MUFSA Autumn Sports Festival was held in the University gym with manyparticipants, including MU foreign students, Japanesestudents, and university officials. It was financiallysupported by Miyazaki Bridge of Fellowship (MBF). In theopening ceremony, after MUFSA President Bambang PontioPriosoaeryanto gave an opening speech and Ms. Kaseda, MBFmember, gave a congratulatory speech, all the participants didwarm-up exercises. The participants enjoyed playingvolleyball and badminton. MUFSA thanked the MBF forsupporting this event financially. The participants receivedmany prizes given by the MBF.
