- 20 -*January 1997: Hidemoto Kamijo and Yoshihiko Hara, teachers at the LifelongLearning Center of MU visited TESC with Shohei Kasui,a secretary general as a part of joint research.*June 1997: Nancy Taylor (History) and Stephanie Kozick (Pedagogy)visited MU as a part of joint research.*From September 1997 to June 1998: Kiyoshi Hirase spent a sabbatical yearat TESC. He did research on lifelong learning, and taughtJapanese language and culture to TESC students.*October 1997: Minoru Okabayashi visited TESC.*March 1998: Guy Butterworth visited TESC on the way to participate inthe annual conference of TESOL in Seattle.*May 1998: Akio Ogata, Head of the Life-long Learning Center of MU, paida courtesy visit to TESC.*June 1998: Dean Nichiro Kawano and Tatsushi Kobayashi, professor atthe Center for Educational Research and Practice, visitedTESC. Together with Kiyoshi Hirase they gave a report on thejoint research to Provost Barbara Smith.*May 1999: Setsuko Tsutsumi (Japanese language and culture) visited MUand gave a speech on the TESC education system, while shewas staying at Kobe University of Commerce as an exchangefaculty member for one academic year.*May 1999: Provost Barbara Smith visited MU to participate in theSymposium on Higher Education, which was organized as oneof the events to celebrate the 50th anniversary of thefoundation of MU.
