- 54 -TESC and DCE. The 7th general meeting in May 1992 decided to supportMU students with the minimum amount of round-trip transportation moneywho were going to study at a sister college at their own expenses.*It was really difficult to increase the number of the SC members, even thoughthe increase of the members was one of its aims. At the time of theestablishment, the SC had 250 members, but by the year 2012 the membersgradually decreased to about 100, including teachers of Faculty of Educationand Culture. The SC secretariat tried to invite non-member teachers tojoin the SC, but it could not force them to become a member. Therefore, the number of the members did not increase as it was expected. So thenew teachers became the target of the SC secretariat.*The secretariat took off its hat to the ordinary citizens for their co-operationwith the SC who were not directly related to the University. Theyresponded to the invitation of the newspaper article by Mr. Butterworth. They sent membership fee every year by a postal order. Many of thesemembers were advanced in age. The secretariat got to know that fifteen ofthem had passed away by 2012 from the letters of the bereaved families.Four outside-the-university directors passed away by 2012. We are deeplygrateful to these directors and the members and pray their souls may restin peace.*As the general meetings were usually held on Saturdays, the number ofparticipants were fifteen at most. The people present were officials of theSC, head of the register’s office as the chairman of the meeting and formerheadof the register’s office as the inspector. Later the general meetingswere held on Wednesdays, but the meetings were still poorly attended.
