a-history-of-international-exchanges00

- 61 -*In the welcome party held in the QU International Hall, Vice-presidentChen Guangyong, Ms.Zhou Xiaoli, Chairman of the InternationalDepartment, Mr.Wang Weijun, Vice-chairman of the Japanese LanguageDepartment, Mr.Xu Xiude, Vice-chairman of the Ecomonics ResearchCenter and an interpreter, joined us. It gave us an impression that thewhole university was welcoming us. After Mr.Ueno, Dean Kusano, andMr.Hirase gave formal greetings, Mr.Minakami, the representative ofMU students, gave rather an unconventional thank-you speech with amention of his dream in the future, which seemed to be favorably takenby QU people.*This short-term study program was mainly supported by InternationalExchange Office and Japanese Language Department, Faculty ofLiterature QU. For the future exchange, it was neccessary for us totalk with the staff of the Faculty of Teachers’ Training. We askedMs.Lui Qi of International Exchange Office to arrange the meetingwith the members of Faculty of Teachers’ Training.*Later I had a discussion on the exchange plan in the future withMs.Zhou Xiaoli, Vice-chairman of International Exchange Office:*QU wants MU students to apply for the ‘Summer intensive Chinesecourse’ at QU.*MU wants QU students to apply for the graduate schools of MU.*QU wants to change the present ‘Exchange agreement’ to ‘SisterCollege agreement,’ to which the government fund will be allowed.*Faculty exchanges should be promoted, starting with the invitationof QU President Xu Jianpei and Zhou Xiaoli to MU. For that purpose,we need to make ‘a memorandum of faculty exchange.’
