- 74 -~(3) National Chengchi University (Taipei, Taiwan)(ⅰ) How the exchange startedIt was also Mr. Nagatomo who urged MU strongly to have an exchangerelation with National Chengchi University (hereafter, NCU). In 2002, oneof his former students in the intensive courses at SU, Ms. Xu Xia-Pei, now anassociate professor at SU, introduced him to Ms. Yu Nai-Ming, Chairman ofthe Japanese Language Department(at that time) of NCU and they met eachother several times since then. Six years later, Mr. Nagatomo had adiscussion with Ms.Yu Nai-Ming, Dean of Foreign Language Faculty, and Mr.Su Wen-Lang, Chairman of Japanese Language Department, about thepossibility of an exchange between MU and NCU and drew a conclusion thatwe would start an exchange. Mr. Nagatomo discussed with them, whilekeeping in close contact with Mr. Hirase, Chairman of SEC, MU. Then SECdiscussed energetically with International Exchange Center about thepreparatory procedures toward the conclusion of an exchange agreement.As NCU is a huge university with 80 sister colleges all over the world,including 25 in Japan, we were not sure if we could continue a substantialexchange.(ⅱ) The conclusion of an exchange agreement(March 23, 2009)
