Mission

This model program supports young principal investigators to work independently in interdisciplinary research areas at the recently merged university.

About the program

  • The program will be conducted in the 4 interdisciplinary research areas under strong leadership of the president of the university
    • International recruitment for a total of 10 assistant professor positions. Female applicants and/or applicants currently residing outside Japan (both Japanese and foreign nationals) will be preferentially appointed.
    • To focus on research, assistant professors will belong to the "Interdisciplinary Research Organization", which is an independent entity within the university.
  • Supports for independent research
    • Provided with a start-up fund, research fund, research space, technician, etc.
    • Mentoring by “troika supporters”, consisting of two persons selected from faculty members from our university and one researcher outside Japan
    • Participation in related international meetings and short-term visits to the mentor outside Japan for international research networking
    • “Support Programs for Women in the Sciences” for female researchers
  • Possible promotion to associate professor positions (fixed terms with possible reappointments) in related departments or research centers of the university
  • Interim evaluation (FY2011) and final evaluation (FY2013)
