Implementation System

Under the President’s leadership, the University of Miyazaki has established the Institute for Tenure Track (TT) Promotion in the Organization for Promotion of Research and Industry-Academia-Regional Collaboration as a support framework for the operation of the tenure track system, selection and evaluation of faculty members, research activities, infrastructure management, etc.
The Institute for TT Promotion Steering Committee, chaired by the Executive Vice President for Research and Planning, is responsible for duties that include reviewing the policies for the recruitment of TT faculty members and operating the program. Selection of TT faculty members is conducted by the TT Faculty Selection Committee, which includes expert committee members from inside and outside the university according to the fields of research and study. Each selected TT faculty member will be assigned three-party supporters (two intramural and one extramural) to provide research guidance and advice, a coordinator to support research activities and infrastructure management, and other personnel to assist the faculty member throughout the processes from mid-term evaluation to tenure.

As a rule, TT faculty members are required to apply to the Project for Outstanding Researchers. The TT Faculty Selection Committee will review the application documents and conduct an interview to decide who will be hired as TT faculty members. Following the five-year TT period, if the faculty member passes the tenure review, they will be awarded a tenure position in the relevant department.
