The "Tsunagaru Bousai Seminar (Disaster Prevention Seminar)," co-hosted by the Miyazaki City, Miyazaki International Association, Center for International relations(University of Miyazaki), and JICA Kyushu, was held on Wednesday, November 27, at Regional Design Building, University of Miyazaki. This seminar aimed to provide disaster preparedness education for foreign residents to ensure their safety and enhance their daily disaster awareness. Through disaster simulations, both foreign and Japanese participants were encouraged to understand and support each other in times of disaster. The seminar attracted 26 participants, including international students, local residents, company representatives, and disaster support volunteers, from a wide range of nationalities such as Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Burkina Faso, South Africa, Thailand, and China.
11月27日（水）に、宮崎市、宮崎県国際交流協会、宮崎大学国際連携センター、JICA九州共催による「つながる防災セミナー」が宮崎大学 地域デザイン棟で開催されました。このセミナーでは、在留外国人が安心して地域で暮らすために、災害時の対応を学び、日頃の防災意識を高め、災害シミュレーションを通して、外国人、日本人の双方が相手の立場に立ち、災害時に相互支援の理解を深めることを目的に実施しています。今回のセミナーには本学の留学生、地域住民、企業の方、災害時外国人サポートボランティアの方など26名が参加されました。国籍もスリランカ、アフガニスタン、ブルキナファソ、南アフリカ、タイ、中国など10の国、地域と多岐にわたりました。
In the first half of the seminar, basic knowledge about disasters and disaster prevention was provided by Miyazaki City. With a recent earthquake off the coast of Hyuga-nada in August, participants showed great interest, taking notes and photos, especially on earthquake and tsunami preparedness. They learned about various ways to access information during a disaster, including the use of disaster prevention apps and the importance of hazard maps.
セミナーの前半は、宮崎市による災害・防災に関する基礎知識について学びました。特に今年は日向灘付近を震源とする地震が８月に発生したこともあり、参加者の多くが地震、津波について熱心にメモや写真を撮るなど関心の高さが伝わりました。実際に災害が起こった際に情報を知る手段として防災アプリの活用、ハザードマップの重要性などさまざまな防災の基礎を学ぶことができました。
The second half of the seminar featured a disaster simulation conducted by Ms. Kitamikado, the vice director of the National Council of Multicultural Coexistence Managers, a non-profit organization. Participants experienced how to communicate disaster-related terms in simple Japanese and how these terms could be translated into their native languages to assist others during emergencies. This exercise demonstrated that foreigners could play a supporting role in disaster scenarios.
セミナーの後半は、特定非営利活動法人 多文化共生マネージャー全国協議会の副理事をされている北御門氏が講師となり、災害シミュレーションを実施しました。やさしい日本語を使って、どのようにして災害時に使用される言葉を伝わる言葉に言い換えるか実際に体験してみました。また、外国人も自分の国の言語に置き換え、発信するなど災害時に助ける、サポートする側になれることを学びました。
Discussions on items to bring to evacuation shelters revealed differing perspectives and values among participants, promoting a deeper understanding of diverse cultures through the seminar.
避難所に持参するものは参加者それぞれに違いがあり、各自の考えや価値観があることを知るきっかけになり、本セミナーを通して異文化を理解することにも繋がりました。
