All international students enrolled at the UoM must obtain a "Student" status of residence.
For details, please contact the Immigration Bureau or the Global Support Office (GSO).
If your status of residence is not "Student," there may be cases in which you cannot be treated as a foreign student.

It is a compulsory insurance that all automobiles are required to have. It provides compensation for "bodily injury" resulting in death or injury to another person in a traffic accident or other accident. The maximum amount of payment for liability insurance is 1.2 million yen for disability and 30 million yen for death per victim.
The insurance will not pay out in the following cases
・Injuries of the driver himself/herself
・Repair cost of the car
・Personal injury caused by a single driver (e.g., collision with a utility pole)
・Damage to property
Premiums are paid at the time of vehicle inspections (automobile inspections that are required to be taken at regular intervals).
Voluntary insurance covers compensation for bodily injury to persons and property, compensation for the car, and injuries to yourself and your passengers that exceed the limits of compensation covered by liability insurance. In the event of a traffic accident, in most cases, liability insurance alone will not be sufficient to pay out a large amount of compensation, so all foreign students who drive cars and motorcycles are required to purchase this insurance.
In the case of a serious accident, the amount of compensation may be several hundred million yen.
Even if you have voluntary insurance, it will not pay out in the case of drunk driving or driving without a license.
If you are involved in a traffic accident, call the police immediately. If there are injuries, call an ambulance.
If you are unable to call the police yourself, ask someone nearby to do so. Even in the case of a minor accident, be sure to call the police and describe the accident.
