Q1あなたの研究テーマについて教えてください。
My research is about genetical information (S-RNase) of citrus, which is correspondence to the phenomenon called self-incompatibility and it can be observed in most of the flowering plants and it helps to reduce self-pollination. Here comes to the most interesting part, there is another phenomenon called parthenocarpy, which is the ability to produce fruits without pollination, and these fruits does not have seeds. When self-incompatibility and parthenocarpy expressed simultaneously in a plant, it can produce seedless fruits. Seedless fruits are favored by consumers. Therefore, researching about self-incompatibility in citrus is important.
Q2いつ頃から大学院博士後期課程への進学を意識しましたか？
I started this research when I was doing my masters course. But unfortunately, I could not complete it 100%. Therefore, I have decided to complete my research by entering to PhD course. And, my parents and my family encouraged me to follow the PhD course.
Q3大学院博士後期課程での学生生活について教えてください。
In PhD course it is up to you to complete your degree, the support of the professor in- charge is limited. While reading articles to gain knowledge about my field and conducting researches to obtain data, is in another level when comparing with the masters course. Allocating the time effectively and efficiently is the key.
Q4次世代研究者挑戦的研究プログラムに採用後、何か変わりましたか？
While doing my masters course, I had to do part-time jobs to support my day-to-day needs. But, after I selected for the SPRING scholarship, as I started my PhD, I did not want to do part-time jobs. It was a stress release in physically as well as mentally. Therefore, I could concentrate on my research effectively. And I did not want to ask financial support from my family. And I got more time to spend freely with my family.
Q5将来の目標について教えてください。
As I following my PhD in agriculture field, I want to become a university professor in Agriculture and teach the students what I have learnt when I was a student. When I following my PhD, I realized that there are many things to be revealed in my field of self-incompatibility. Therefore, I would like to continue researching on those fields becoming university professor.
