Q1あなたの研究テーマについて教えてください。

In most of the countries, the increase in aged population and the comparative decrease in working proportion have led to the creation of many economic and social problems. Many kinds of power assist robots have been developed and made commercially available, to assist self-rehabilitation and/or daily life motions of physically weak persons such as elderly, disabled, or injured persons. When the power assistance on such robot motions is concerned, it is very important for the power assist robot to be controlled in accordance with the user’s motion intention in real time. Since the lower-limb motions are involved in various daily activities, such approaches are particularly important for the development of lower-limb power assist exoskeleton robots. Here, I have focused on developing a novel control method for active ankle support devices that provides sufficient flexibility to assist a wide variety of lower-limb motions.

Q2いつ頃から大学院博士後期課程への進学を意識しましたか?

While conducting research in my master's program, I started considering the pursuit of a doctoral program. During that time, I had the chance to go through many research publications, which proved invaluable in revealing such areas with insufficient advancements. Recognizing this, I decided to embrace the challenge of pursuing a Ph.D. by continuing my research to the next level.

Q3大学院博士後期課程での学生生活について教えてください。

In my research work, I primarily focus on developing diverse algorithms, collecting, and analyzing data, and implementing them in practical real-world systems. Also, from the very beginning of my research career, I enjoyed participation in research conferences and symposia. Therefore, I’m looking forward to going for publications soon. Apart from my research work I enjoy the time that I’m spending with my lab members and friends.

Q4次世代研究者挑戦的研究プログラムに採用後、何か変わりましたか?

As a self-funded student, I initially had some concerns about my financial situation, particularly in relation to covering my daily expenses and securing research funding, given the hardware requirements essential for my research. Nonetheless, the support received from the Next Generation Researchers Challenging Research Program has been truly transformative. It not only alleviated my financial concerns but also motivated me to wholeheartedly embrace the academic journey. Further, I highly appreciate some initiatives that they have taken forward to ready the research student along with the industry requirements and responsibilities.

Q5将来の目標について教えてください。

Upon successfully completing my studies at the University of Miyazaki, my aspiration is to start a career as a Research and Development Engineer, with a particular focus on the automobile manufacturing industry in Japan. Through this career path, I aim to contribute by identifying and developing solutions to real-world challenges, thereby advancing, and improving technologies for the betterment of humanity.
