榊原(陽)教授、黒木准教授らの研究成果をまとめた総説が学術雑誌に掲載されました

榊原陽一教授、黒木勝久准教授(生体分子機能化学研究室)の微生物から植物、動物まで多彩な機能を有する硫酸転移酵素に関する総説「Evolution and multiple functions of sulfonation and cytosolic sulfotransferases (SULTs) across species」が、Bioscience, Biotechnology, Biochemistry誌に掲載されました。

Sulfate ions are biologically converted into sulfonucleotides (adenosine 5′-phosphosulfate [APS] and 3′-phosphoadenosine 5′-phosphosulfate [PAPS]) and utilized for sulfate respiration in primitive bacteria, as well as cysteine synthesis in bacteria and plants. Eventually, PAPS came to be employed for sulfonation in various organisms, including bacteria, plants, and animals.
